Racks lunch. Yes, they are still alive and kicking

One weekend, we were at Paseo de Sta Rosa and were trying to decide where to eat lunch when we passed by one of the restaurants that was sooo famous before but not so much now. It was a long time since we last ate there.. at Rack's.

As expected, food was pretty darn good. Really worth the bucks that were paid. So here's what we ordered.

ceasar's salad, carbonara pasta and bbq sauce for the already-gone ribs

So technically we weren't able to take a photo of the mouth watering ribs on our plates (we were that hungry) but the empty plates are evidence. haha!

 carbonara pasta

 ceasar's salad

fried chicken, ribs and corn muffin/ bread (i think)

honey for the muffin.. the bee-like spoon of a thing is so cute!

the once-there onion rings which were so good.. obviously

next time you wanna eat really good ribs and get good quality foods for your money, rack's is the place to go.

Why I love weekends at Nuvali

I have a sister who lives in Nuvali, Sta Rosa. Very quaint. Cool weather. Safe place to live in. Nice neighborhood. Close to restos and other establishments.

BUt what i like most about spending weekends there is this - she has no wifi and no cable (just a TV). MOst people would find that appalling, especially for those who like going online all the time. We have wifi and cable at our home in elbi but I love spending time at NUvali.

Because 1) I get to read my books. I have a long list of books to read - from Taipan to Blink - and yet I don't have time to do so when at home. When in Nuvali, since I have nothing else to do, I get to read.

And 2) I have good conversations with my family. It's true what they say: with wifi and laptop, you spend less time talking with the people around you.

Though we have smartbro and sun broadband (take your pick), I intentionally didn't connect to the net.

And now that i'm back at our own home, here i am, in front of the laptop, surfing the net, making this blog. :)

I am a buko lover. as in

I love buko. Buko pie. Buko. But mostly, buko juice. I can finish off four (4) bukos (meat and juice) in less than 2 hours.. and that's taking it slowly. I think my record was a whopping ten (10) bukos in a span of 2 days, since you can't keep bukos for too long.

Living in laguna, bukos are everywhere. Though i know that buko has a lot of health benefits, I've never really given it any thought. So I researched for it (while drinking buko juice) and here's some of what I found.

This is taken from the website http://www.lipabuko.com/lipa-buko/html/health.php.

And no, I am not from Lipa Buko. I am not plugging them. Though their drinks are good. Somewhat expensive. But I prefer the natural buko. Haha. Anyway, the site has the complete list of benefits but below are my favorite, especially the last two. Hehe.

Health Benefits
  • Boosts energy and endurance enhancing physical and athletic performance
  • Improves digestion & absorption of fat –soluble vitamins & amino acids.
  • Improves insulin secretion & utilization of blood glucose.
  • Promotes loss of excess weight by increasing metabolic rate.
  • Helps prevent obesity and overweight problem.
Not only that, buko also has beauty benefits. Oh di ba!

Beauty Benefits
  • Softens skin & relieves dryness, prevents wrinkles, sagging skin & age spots.
  • Promotes healthy looking hair and complexion.
  • Provides protection from the damaging effects of ultra-violet radiation from the sun.
 So drink up! :)

How to clear one's mind of clutter

what to do to clear your mind of clutter? when i'm thinking of too much things - whether about work, class, family, friends or about my love life (or the lack of it), i have a fool proof list of things to do. well most of the time they work. depends.

1) GO ON A ROADTRIP. Even if you don't have your own car, commute. Ride a cab and go anywhere. Ride the jeepney with no particular destination. Walk around with no direction.

2) GO ON A FOOD TRIP. Though this may not be the most healthy, go on a foodtrip. Eat streetfoods like isaw, fishball, proven and other foods that are "pampalapit sa diyos." Or eat chocolate for more endorphins. haha!

3) TAKE A LONG HOT SHOWER. This definitely helps me a lot. Take a bath too if you have a tub. The heat helps your muscles relax and so does your mind.

4) TAKE A TRIP TO THE SPA. If you can't afford a whole body massage (which is the best), get a manicure, pedicure, foot spa or hand spa just to relax.

Though these may take time and money, well, they help me de-clutter my always chaotic mind.

How about you? What are your mind de-cluttering tips? :)
